At Architecture Meaning Studio C (Architecture Meaning Studio Chen PLLC), we celebrate our individualities and enforce the collaborations between our clients, team members, consultants and contractors. We convey these collective interests and express their embedded meanings through the pursuit of architectural forms and application of materials. The C was originally conceived to represent: Collaboration (for the collective works between studios) and Chen (for the acknowledgement of the founding principal of the studio).
AMSC is a New York-based architectural studio that provide architecture design, zoning consultation and construction management service for our clients. We are specialized in residential, commercial, mixed-use and high-rise designs for both new buildings as well as alterations.
Shang has started his architectural career since 2006. With over 16 years of professional experience, he has worked extensively on commercial, residential, mixed-use and institutional projects in New York City and Asia.
Shang graduated from Cornell University Bachelor of Architectural Program with the Downing Prize of Architectural Distinction and the Sands Bronze Metal. He has also been awarded full-scholarship to complete his Master of Architecture Program at the Cooper Union.
Prior of founding Architecture Meaning Studio C, Shang has worked as a job captain at the Kohn Pederson Fox Associates at New York and Shanghai and as a project manager and architect at Shiming Tam Architect, PLLC (STA) in New York. Shang has also be hired as high-rise consultant by Mark Chen Architect.
In addition to private practice, Shang had worked with the New York City Department of Buildings as an Assistant-Chief Plan Examiner for over 4 years. He had reviewed and approved over 500 projects from single-family houses to mixed-used super-highrise buildings. Recently, Shang had served as an architect and portfolio planning specialist at the Department of Citywide Administrative Services. His expertise in construction codes and zoning regulations, as well as extensive experience in public sector planning projects are great assets to the team.
